President, Service Business Otis Elevator Co.
Since 2011, Blanc has served as senior vice president of Xylem and president of the New York–based water-technology provider’s Europe Commercial team. As such, he’s overseen staggering growth, including in the second quarter of 2018, when the company beat all Wall Street predictions by posting $115 million in profits, up from $99 million during the same period the year previous. For Blanc, who is based in Zurich, the positive financial news takes a back seat to the innovative solutions that battle the global water shortage roiling across the world, most notably in Yemen, Libya, Jordan and the Western Sahara. “As the global water crisis deepens, water managers are facing acute water- and wastewater-infrastructure challenges,” said Blanc in May while attending IFAT, the world’s biggest trade convention for environmental technologies. “Against this backdrop, managers are turning to smart water technologies that offer new ways to address the industry’s challenges. IFAT provides an ideal platform to showcase our proven smart water solutions and to highlight how these solutions can enhance the productivity of water and wastewater operations and help utilities address the issue of water affordability.”
