President, Sprint Business
Since at least early 2017, not long after he was promoted as president of Sprint Business, Geldmacher has been evangelizing the telecommunications company’s 5G service, the so-called fifth generation of wireless cellular technology. And now that the technology is finally a reality, the former Sprint president of Enterprise has wasted no time talking up the company’s low latency, defined as the amount of time a message takes to traverse a system. “We have much less time between the signal being sent and the signal being received, and that’s important to create a variety of applications,” Geldmacher told Light Reading in May, citing remote surgery and robotics as two segments that will benefit from faster internet speeds. Besides 5G, Geldmacher has been leading a simultaneous charge to bring Sprint’s business services to the U.S. government, primarily through its Internet of Things and cloud solutions.
