Jim Nyquist

Group President, Systems and Solutions
Emerson Automation Solutions

Along with others in the electrical equipment segment, Nyquist has waged a long campaign to standardized automation in oil fields and elsewhere, lest project costs continue to skyrocket. In 2015, during the annual Emerson Exchange event, Nyquist called on his colleagues, from Siemens Oil & Gas, Honeywell and others, to create standardized automation projects to cut down on project costs. “We have a project crisis in this industry,” he said, according to Automation World, claiming that more than 65 percent of projects greater than $1 billion fail. The Kansas State graduate has reason to be worried: Emerson Automation Solutions is a $10 billion cash cow for the company, and as president he’s responsible for the division’s lucrative “Remote Automation Solutions.”
