Lee Cooper

President & CEO, U.S. & Canada
GE Healthcare

Before he was appointed president and CEO of GE Healthcare in the United States and Canada in 2015, Cooper gained experience by working his way up in General Electric’s mammoth global sales and marketing divisions, first as a commercial officer and then as a vice president of sales. By the time he became CEO of the parent company’s health-care subsidiary — a manufacturer and distributor of diagnostic imaging agents — the 10-year GE veteran had earned a reputation for deftly cutting through bureaucracy and spearheading efficiency. Now the Ohio Wesleyan University grad has combined his talent for slicing red tape with a healthy appetite for technological disruption in a bid to align his $8 billion portfolio of imaging, ultrasound and life-care products with a new generation of health-care start-ups. “We need to challenge ourselves to think differently, embrace disruptive ideas and partner in new ways to truly transform health care,” he said shortly after being named to the top spot. “The health-care industry demands long-term investments, new outcome-driven relationships, specialization and data-driven technology, and solutions in order to attack the cost, quality and access challenges.”
