McNamara, a passionate technology-sales executive with more than 20 years in the business, took the reins as senior vice president of North American Analytics Sales in 2015 following three years in a similar position at IBM. To say he has intense feelings about analytics is an understatement. Over the course of 10 years, he rose as a sales professional at the 107-year-old multinational technology company, negotiating multimillion-dollar contracts in his twenties, until finally, in 2015, he established himself as one of the leading evangelists of sales analytics, beating the drum for Oracle and its business-intelligence and pipeline-management abilities. “The reason why I’m here at Oracle is because I truly believe in what we’re doing from an analytics perspective,” McNamara said during a 2016 Oracle seminar shortly after joining the company. “We were late to the game, to be honest with you. If you look at visualization, you had Tableau kind of define that market. But over the last 12 months — and I’ve been here for the last seven months — I’ve really seen, from a development perspective and from a fight perspective, that we’re going to be number one in the marketplace. And I truly believe that. I think in two years the two companies standing from an analytics perspective will be Microsoft and Oracle — and we all know that Oracle is going to crush them.”
