TOP 100 GLOBAL SALES LEADERS 2019

Tammy Routh

Senior Vice President Global Sales
Marriott International

Routh was promoted to senior vice president of Global Sales in October 2016, just as the world went topsy-turvy. Since then, the multinational hospitality company, which boasts 6,500 properties in 127 countries, has endured a series of protests led by employees demanding, among other safeguards, better protections against sexual harassment. A 35-year veteran of the hotel chain, now the largest hospitality company in the world, Routh has aggressively moved to integrate sales and marketing following the Maryland-based company’s 2016 acquisition of Starwood Hotels, drawing the ire of third-party booking groups that deal with the company’s global event business. “My entire career has been with Marriott International, which is annually honored as one of the World’s Most Admired Companies and 100 Best Companies to Work For by Fortune magazine,” she wrote on LinkedIn shortly after her appointment. “Leading my team of over 160 sales professionals is a privilege; we strive to exceed the expectations of our internal stakeholders and customers through a deep understanding of their needs, innovation and strong business acumen.”
