Tara Dunning

Chief Revenue Officer
Avaya Inc.

In March, Avaya, the Santa Clara, California–based multinational technology company, heralded the triumphant return of Dunning as chief revenue officer. The Wharton School of Business student and University of Michigan creative-writing graduate returned to her old Avaya stomping grounds in Washington, D.C., after a six-month stint as vice president of global sales at BroadSoft, a global communications software and service provider. Initially a senior executive of IT operations at Avaya, Dunning worked her way up to a position as vice president of global sales operations before jumping ship for an opportunity at BroadSoft — but apparently she couldn’t resist Avaya when the recently appointed CEO Jim Chirico offered her the newly created CRO job earlier this year. Since then, she’s made Avaya’s community of channels a priority. “I believe they are critical to our future success and transformation, and it is my intention to work hand in hand with them as Avaya develops strategies and road maps for our solutions and emerging technologies,” she told the trade publication Channel Partners shortly after her return. “We plan to continue to maintain open dialogue to identify and remove barriers to our mutual success and speed commerce.”
