MSC is a metalworking supply company with more than a million products on the market and 6,000 associates. That’s a lot for any one person to wrangle, but as the senior vice president of sales and customer success since the summer of 2019, Martin’s job is to juggle all that. Fortunately, this senior executive has all the experience and skills necessary, having spent nearly 30 years at various divisions and operating units of GE. While there, he won an internal award for his coordination and collaboration in building a website for a Super Bowl ad in a short turnaround of just a few weeks; he received coverage in 2012 in The Wall Street Journal for his efforts. It was during this period that Martin discovered the “value that marketing and IT bring to the party together,” that is, with both departments working in concert.
