It’s been another unusual year. Nevertheless, sales leaders persisted.
Between the pandemic (Is it over?), the economy (Is it in recession?), and the war in Ukraine (Is a global conflict imminent?), the world has never been as unstable as it is right now. As the old adage goes, the only thing constant is change, and companies and employees have had to adapt in real time if they want to stay afloat in these murky, uncharted, ever-changing waters.
Which makes this year’s list of Top 100 Global Sales Leaders all the more admirable.
As companies around the world deal with supply-chain issues, a hybrid workforce, and an entirely new mindset when it comes to work-life balance, sales executives have had to remain sharp, mastering new technologies, recruiting and retaining talent, and thinking creatively — and realistically — about their teams and their deliverables. For typically social salespeople, a lack of human contact might veil the charisma that so often leads to a new partnership or a closed deal. Not so for these leaders, who navigated ever-shifting norms through countless screen time to deliver success, a word whose very meaning is constantly being redefined by savvy organizations.
The 2022 Top 100 Global Sales Leaders list honors these exceptional human beings who have met the moment with potency. People like Debi Ryan, Head of Commercial Direct Sales, Americas, at Tesla Energy, who is helping the country shift to clean energy; César Cernuda, President of NetApp, whose passion for diversity in all its forms has shifted his company’s priorities; and Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Executive Vice President, Chief Revenue Officer & General Manager of the Sales, Marketing and Communications Group at Intel, who has deftly navigated shortages in the semiconductor space. These remarkable sales executives embraced the uncertainty of the past year and used it to set the tone for a post-pandemic era, a time when we are all experiencing an ineffable vibe-shift. With a commitment to their teams, their communities, and the greater good, these leaders are making our world a healthier, kinder, more inclusive place — all while delivering revenue.
For the fifth year, we recognize these pioneers as the extraordinary leaders they are. These 100 sales executives were nominated and vetted by their peers, pulling to the lead against thousands of applicants. To land on the final list, judges weighed nominees’ diverse experiences, their agility, their ability to innovate and adapt, and their overall impact on the sales profession.
In association with Collective[i], The Modern Sale is proud to present the Fifth Annual Top 100 Global Sales Leaders, post-pandemic edition.
